How to open the Audit Logs
Vault Admins can download the complete audit trail of the Vault. The audit log will be downloaded as a zip file, which contains two files:
- Audit.log: Displays all information on document level: uploads, moves, edits, deletions, permission changes. To understand better the Documents Audit Legend, visit Documents Audit Legend.
- RolesandUsers.log: Displays all information related to groups, roles and users. To understand better the Roles & Users Audit Legend, visit Roles & Users Audit Legend.
These files are also included in the Vault Admin Archive perspective.
To open and read the audit logs, first extract the files, open a new workbook in Microsoft Excel and use the following steps:
|1. Click the tab Data.|
2. Select From text/CSV.
If you are not using Excel in Office 365, navigate to Data/New Query/From File/From CSV. See image right.
|3. Search for the location of the audit log.|
|4. Change All files to Text files.|
|5. Select the one of the audit logs.
6. Click Import.
|7. Set the Delimiter to Comma|
8. Click Load.
