What is a buy side group?
A buy side group is used to organize external users (Guests) who belong to the same buyer team. Users within the same buy side group can see the the names of other users within their group due to buy side due diligence coordination.
Depending on the level of control and access you need, Admins and Managers (when granted the appropriate permissions) can decide whether a group has one role (everyone gets the same permissions) or multiple roles (different access levels within the same buyer group).
When to use one role
Choose a single role if all users in the group are allowed the same level of access.
This is suitable when:
- All users are allowed to se the same folders and files
- No distinction is needed between different teams and advisors
- You want a simple setup with minimal permission management
Typical examples:
- Departments with shared access.
- External advisors who all need to see the same folders.
- Clean teams who should work with identical permissions.
With this setup, everyone in the group works under the same conditions and you don’t need to manage access per user.
When to use multiple roles
Use multiple roles within the same buy‑side group if users need different levels of access.
This is suitable when:
- Different advisors or teams should see different content
- You would like to filter Q&A questions more easily by role
- You want to restrict access to sensitive folders for specific users
- You need more control over permissions within one buyer group
- You want to track activity separately for different advisors or teams.
Typical examples:
- Financial advisors can only access folders 1 and 2.
- Tax advisors can only access folders 3 and 4.
- Legal advisors should see everything, but analysts get limited access.
This gives you more control and flexibility, while still keeping all users under the same buyer group umbrella.
How to create a buyer group
1. Navigate to the Buy side and click + New buyer group.
2. The group creation screen opens.
- Enter the group name and choose a color for your reference.
- Add one or more roles, depending on your needs (see below).
Example: Group Blue with roles Legal and Finance.
Note: The group and role names are not visible to users on the Buy side, but will appear in the archive.
3. Click Create to finalize the group.
3. After creating the buyer group, you must set the permissions and invite users.
Role Tip: Be aware that users will only be able to run activity reports if this permission has been granted.
