Comfort Letter and checking the hash code
Every USB and Cloud archive comes with a Comfort Letter and states the following:
- Which Vault the archive contains
- Which perspective it is
- Date and time of the request
- Which reports are on it
- A Hash code
A hash code is a mathematical integer which acts like an identity for an object. It differs from one object to another. You can use this code to check whether the file present on the USB, is in fact the file we created. Comparing hash codes is a convenient way of checking if the file WAS changed. As every change, however small it may be, results in a completely different hash code.
Here is an example of a Comfort Letter
A hash tool, like HashMyFiles, can be used to check if the hash code matches the one in the Comfort Letter.
